The Stacks is an experiment in scientific publishing, and it tries to make design decisions about its publishing platform to understand the outcome it’ll have on how authors or readers behave. In these cases, we’ll try to document the rationale behind the decision and link to relevant parts of our deployment so that others can learn how it was made and implemented.
Below is a list of the design decisions we’ve documented so far!
- Comments can only be edited briefly: You can edit a comment for one hour, and only until someone replies.
- Comments are withdrawn, not deleted: You can withdraw a comment at any time, but it leaves a placeholder in the thread.
- Design decisions: Why The Stacks works the way it does.
